Infertility as a mormon is the WORST. My wife bawling, asking where God is, why he’s not blessing us. Me not having answers, blaming myself for that time I rubbed one out in the shower. Giving blessing after blessing. Awful for all involved.

Wow!… I took Bible as Lit class from Dr Walker back in 1991. I was in the MACC program but took his class on a recommendation from a friend and I loved it. He invited our whole class to his house one morning for pancakes. Some 33 years later I still fondly remember some of the class discussions. So many of which pushed a firm-ware upgrade in my brain that made me a better person and a more nuanced & tolerant member of the church. He was open, honest and candid. Even though I disassociated from the church 10 years ago, I still hold those as happy memories. Thanks for sharing your story and for the trip down memory lane.

Listening to her talk about modesty struck home. Several times the bishop and a young women’s leader told me I was a bad influence on boys because of how many clothes fit on me. I’m quite tall and thin. At six foot three and about 130 pounds it’s hard enough finding anything that comes close to fitting on the racks. I was also told not to go to dances because I was taller than all of the boys.

Great Interview. So many experiences that I really relate to.
I also took Steven Walker’s Bible literature class back in the early ’80s. Even though my major was in engineering, professor Walker’s class was my favorite class at BYU. I also when to school with

I never heard of a patriarchal blessing being so specific as “you will serve a full time mission for 18 months.” Wow!

Mine used the word “mission” but it seemed that the interpretation was that it would be as a wife and a mother. BTW, I never served a full time mission and I never had kids. I’m 66 now so it’s definitely not going to happen.
