It’s pretty easy to be a huge success when people hand over billions of dollars annually and your organization is tax free.

    You are forgetting more billions.

The employee pension plan, which Tommy Monson discontinued in 2014-2015, has over 6 billion in it.

LDS Philanthropies department raises 30-50 million a year for missionary fund! That pays for a lot of the gap between the cost ($1200/monthly) and what young people pay (500/month).

They also raise 20-30 million a year for LDS charities. So EPA or current tithes don’t have to foot the bill.

And finally in 2008-2009 Gordon Himkley laid-off 4000 employees that cleaned buildings, which saved Mormon Inc. 1 billion annually in salaries/benefits.

Jesus of Nazareth was a friend of the poor. He would never sit on billions of dollars when there are so many who go to bed hungry every night. I am going to give my tithing dollars to Mother Theresa where the money will do so good.

Mother Theresa also has serious allegations against her regarding her work. I would look for the most credible charities you can find to donate to. Good luck!

When John and RFM were debating the parable of the talents I think John really wanted to reference the parable of the rich fool who already had abundance and decides to build even bigger barns instead of sharing.

D&C 104:15-18 is particularly damming of the Church on this issue.

15 And it is my purpose to provide for my saints, for all things are mine.
16 But it must needs be done in mine own way; and behold this is the way that I, the Lord, have decreed to provide for my saints, that the poor shall be exalted, in that the rich are made low.
17 For the earth is full, and there is enough and to spare; yea, I prepared all things, and have given unto the children of men to be agents unto themselves.
18 Therefore, if any man shall take of the abundance which I have made, and impart not his portion, according to the law of my gospel, unto the poor and the needy, he shall, with the wicked, lift up his eyes in hell, being in torment
