I Declined My Mormon Mission Call – Benson Lawson | Ep. 2062

This week, we’re sitting down with Benson Lawson, who made the bold decision to decline his Mormon mission call. In the LDS community, serving a mission is often seen as non-negotiable—an expectation placed on nearly every young man. For those who choose differently, the backlash can be overwhelming.

Benson is bravely sharing his story with us, opening up about the pressure, the stigma, and why a mission wasn’t the right path for him.

Join us as we explore the reasons why a mission is not right for everyone, and what affect this choice can have on a Mormon man in particular.

  1. This week in Mormon Stories censorship.

What can I say, I knew you traded Mormon lies for leftist lies but I never thought you would ignore the Charlie Kirk assassination. You are a coward.

John, you devoted three episodes on BLM and George Floyd. George Floyd didn’t deserve to die nor did Charlie Kirk. However, you celebrated and went along with the BS narrative of white privilege and the ridiculous notion that words, primarily words you disagree with cause harm. You contributed to the messaging that killed Charlie Kirk. I have posted alternative thoughts on your podcasts multiple times and yet you are too cowardly to let them be public. Chalie was Kirk was killed because a large portion on our country believes it is better to cause actual harm to someone who they disagree with than to hear them out and have a peaceful conversation.

Rightfully so, you chide the Mormon church for censoring and expelling the dissenting voices, but you fail to see the that you’re doing the same thing. I enjoyed your episodes when you stuck to the historical facts, but you shifted, and not in a good way when you decided to buy into the BS narrative of white privilege, toxic masculinity, Black Lies Matter, and Transgenderism.

I’m not a Mormon and I do believe some of their teachings and culture aren’t helpful for some individuals; however, you have given people the wrong impression that Mormon “harms” can be substituted by a better path. Sadly, this isn’t true. A different path just has different “harms”. The alleged killer of Charlie Kirk traded Mormonism for Transgenderism and look what happened.

As I said at the beginning, you are a coward. Give some space for alternative voices on your podcast.
