In this engaging interview, Mike from LDS Discussions, Nemo the Mormon, and John Dehlin review the failed prophecies of Mormonism’s founder, Joseph. They start by discussing what the Bible says about failed prophecies and those who tell them. They then delve into specific failed prophecies, including the Second Coming of the Lord in 1891, the fall and overthrow of the US government, and the “everlasting” covenant of the United Order. Other failed prophecies discussed include the failed treasure seeking mission to Salem and the failed attempt to sell the Book of Mormon copyright.

Was Joseph 0wrong or is it was God’s fault? What good is having General Conference, either way? The hosts also discuss how FAIR Mormon tries to spin failures into fulfillments and concludes with some final thoughts on the implications of these failed prophecies of Joseph for Mormons today.

14 deaths make Zion’s Camp a “tragedy,” not benign “leadership training”. Quote from Mormonthink:

“Much is made of the fact that many of the church’s leaders came from those that attended Zion’s Camp and that it was a success in that regard. It is almost never mentioned that 14 Latter-day Saints got sick and died during the Zion’s Camp expedition. Those men died of cholera that they received during the harsh conditions of the expedition. These faithful Latter-day Saints would not have died if it wasn’t for Zion’s Camp. It is doubtful that the widows and orphans left behind from those 14 men considered Zion’s Camp a success.”

Anyone who thinks that God is directing this church through the instrementaly of Smith or any other so called prophet, Needs to take a hard look. Here is a simple one

“How much unbelief exists in the minds of the Latter-day Saints in regard to one particular doctrine which I revealed to them, and WHICH God revealed to me—namely that Adam is our Father and God…. Our Father Adam helped to make this earth, it was created expressly for him. He brought one of his wives with him. Who is he? He is Michael….He was the first man on earth, and its framer and maker. He with the help of his brethren brought it into existence….Then he (Adam) said: “I want my children that were born to me in the spirit world to come here and take tabernacles of flesh that their spirits may have a house, a tabernacle or a dwelling place as mine has.”
Todays “prophets” do not support this Brigham Young “revealed” notion.
