Cable/DSL Dialup | Go Forward (37:50 minutes)Gary Horlacher, a Ph.D. student at BYU, describes being raised in a large LDS family in Orem, Utah. In his youth he fell in love with genealogy work and without realizing it, a few boys who were his friends. Gary is typical of the single LDS male with same-sex attraction. In this video Gary ponders the words of President Hinckley, who says that he may “go forward” as any other member if he abstains from sexual activity.
Cable/DSL Dialup | Marriage Hopes and Realities (45:11 minutes)Russ Gorringe was attracted to his male friends quite intensely during his youth, but when he married Carolyn in the temple he did not fully understand the impact this would have on their marriage. For a while he thought Evergreen, a support group for LDS men, was going to cure him. Russ described his near suicide and how his teenage daughter saves him–before he reaches a place of understanding and acceptance of his feelings.
Cable/DSL Dialup | Embracing Our Homosexual Children (48:44 minutes)Dr. Bill Bradshaw, former LDS mission president of the Hong Kong Mission and now a professor of molecular biology, introduces us to the Horstmanschoff family of Salt Lake City. Ilse and John Horstmanschoff have three gay sons and one daughter who is lesbian among their 11 children. Any idea what the fee is? Thanks.
It’s totally free, as I understand it.
This is not a video we should promote. The video supports the idea that people are born gay and have no control over how they respond to same-sex attractions. In reality, there is a lot that people with same-sex feelings can do to understand them and resolve many of the difficulties that cause the attractions. The video says that efforts to resolve the problems and live a chaste life are useless and people should just give in and live a gay life. That’s crazy. Thousands of people have overcome same-sex attraction and live very happy, heterosexual lives. Just see http://www.evergreeninternational.org or http://www.exodus-international.org.
…Yeah bill, it worked out for Ted Haggard, right?
Bill, who is this “we” you refer to?
