Join us as we discuss surprises, let downs, best talks, worst talks etc in this year’s April General Conference, where members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) listen to messages from top leaders in the Church. What were the real intentions and messages behind this year’s talks? Did they address the recent scandals & controversy regarding the SEC fine for fraudulently creating shell companies to hide its wealth from members and the public? Was anything missing that we would normally expect to hear?

Well, I guess you would not expect to hear it, but the Church remains forever silent on the one real moral issue of the day. That national scourge of Guns and gun slaughter.

I love the format and we can all learn by discussion. However, adding or looking beyond what was clearly not intended doesn’t look good on you. For instance Elder Gong was not saying have some old man pick up a thirteen year old girl and go ministering. Why make it sound like that. I think most people thought he meant having mother/daughter or father/son pairs go out and learn from each other. Stirring the pot is not helpful discussion just remember going forward.

I really appreciated John calling them out for criticizing the very thing the panelists want to see changed. He did it in a playful way, but said “there is truth to it”. There are so many of you podcasts I’ve loved. But Samantha’s rants were so grating and lacked the substance she continuously accused the talks were lacking. When she said she was still acting in kindness during her rant, she shares the same hypocrisy as the church. Like John said, no matter what the church does, you can’t win. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
