Holy freaking moly. I discovered a podcast last week (thanks to Rory) that has knocked my socks off. It’s called “Speaking of Faith”, and for me, has been amazing.

Please, please, please subscribe to, and listen to this podcast. For me–it is among the best out there by far.

  1. The most current podcast features an interview with Sister Joan Chittister who says, to paraphrase: the word obedience is rooted in the idea “to listen” _not_ “to jump how high”…and that it’s not about conformity…not about “cookie-cutter people”…that this does not make one holy or valorous, rather people who follow their individual gifts.

    Sweet.

  2. Several months ago, My DH mentioned the segment on “A History of Doubt”. Since then, I have been regularly downloading SOF programs that interest me. I am glad to see that you give the program high marks, too.

  3. I discovered “Speaking of Faith” probably 2 years ago, and I’ve listened to every episode at least once. It really is a remarkably fair, thoughtful and insightful program.

In fact, my current Sunday routine consists of attending sacrament meeting with my family, slipping out the back door immediately after the closing prayer, changing into shorts and a t-shirt, firing up my intrepid iPod, and listening to the latest episode of “Speaking of Faith” as I hike in the mountains near our home.

I must say I always come home feeling much more relaxed, uplifted, and inspired than I ever did sitting through a Sunday School or Elder’s Quorum lesson.

Naughty? Perhaps. But it works for me. My new routine has transformed Sunday from a day I used to endure with gritted teeth to a day I look forward to and enjoy.
