Download MP3

Book Club is back with Rebecca Bibliotheca! Joining her and John Dehlin is Dr. Sarah Patterson as she introduces us to her book on the “September Six”, a group of scholars and feminists excommunicated from the LDS Church in September 1993.

The interview examines the impact of excommunications, the power of the Church’s stance on purity, and the consequences for members. Sarah also highlights the importance of remembering those who paved the way for open conversations and change within the Church.

  1. An informative recap. Thank you. I’m learning more out of the church than I did in it, As the author of In Polygamy’s Shadow, From a Mormon Childhood to a Life of Choice, I’ve been told by a convert: “I’m a Mormon and polygamy was never part of the church.” I was particularly saddened when a born in the covenant young man in his 20’s asked me if it was true that polygamy had been part of the church. He told me he had so many questions he was afraid to ask his family or his leaders.

I don’t know how you can struggle for the soul of the Mormon Church. It lost its soul a long long time ago. (if it ever had one)
