One thing I’ve liked about this (and I intend to do more blogging on other blogs this next year) is that I can listen and blog on another blog at the same time.

I always am doing two things at once. Watch TV, read a book. Perhaps I don’t do either justice, but it seems to work out okay for me.

I need to catch up, John.

According to the Smithsonian Institute of Washington, D.C., USA, the following items (which, according to The Book of Mormon, existed in the Americas between 600 B.C. and 421 A.D.) have absolutely no evidence for existing in the America’s during the time in question:

    Silk—Alma 4:6, Nephi 13:7, Alma 1:29
    Horses—Enos 1:21, Alma 18:9, 3 Nephi 3: 1, Nephi 18:25
    Steel—Jarom 1:8, 2 Nephi 5:15,16, 1 Nephi 4:9, 16:18
    Iron—2 Nephi 5:15, 20:34, Jarom 1:8, Mosiah 11:8
    Coins—Alma 11:5-19
    Donkeys—1 Nephi 18:25, Mosiah 5:14, 12:5
    Cattle, Cow, and Oxen—Enos 1:21; 3 Nephi 3:22, 6: 1 Nephi 18:25
    Pigs—3 Nephi 7:8
    Grain and Wheat—Mosiah 9:9; Helaman 11:17

If The Book of Mormon is true, certainly some evidence for the items mentioned above should have been unearthed by modern-day archeologists. But where are the objects of steel, iron, and brass etc that are mentioned throughout The Book of Mormon?

The Bible mentions Egyptians being swollowed up into the Red Sea when Moses parted it. Surely, if the Bible is true, we should find their chariot wheels at the bottom of the Red Sea. I say the Bible isn’t true till I see a chariot wheel from an Egyptian swollowed up. And surely if the Bible were true, we would see evidence of Jesus’ cross. Till I see Jesus’ cross in a museum, I won’t believe he was crucified. Surely you can show me that cross can’t you? But I thought you said there was a Jesus.

Ive been a member of the Lds Church since 1955 and find it odd that there are lots of you folks out here in ciberspace that have to have some kind of “TRUTH” of the Book of Mormon but offer no other Truths for us to hold on to, most of the x’s I have seen,> seem to hear the voice of GOD in there heads telling them that all this Book of Mormon stuff is untrue, Why should I believe that you hear GOD but old Joe didn’t…?

I have been trying to subscribe to the podcast in Itunes, and I can search for it and it will find it, but when I try and subscribe, it says it is not available in the US. Since you are in the US, I cannot imagine why this would be so. Could you please help me with this? I found out about your podcast from Van Hale’s Mormon Misc., which I have been listening to for the past month or so. I have been enjoying having endless episodes to catch up on…grin. I figured I had better line up a couple of other good LDS podcasts to take up the time when I have finally listened to all of Van’s archiveThanks! Fran
