Sharon Price said Mia Love and Jeff Flake have stood up to Trump. That is not true. “We know there are some pretty vociferous Trump opposers… Jeff Flake, and Mia Love.” Mia Love votes in favor of Trump’s positions 96.4% of the time. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/congress-trump-score/mia-b-love/
Jeff Flake votes for Trump’s positions 84% of the time.

You can’t “vociferously oppose” someone and vote to further their agenda at the same time. Their opposition is not on the substance of Trump but his rhetoric. He puts an ugly face on thier policies and makes it harder for them to hide from it, but substantively they all agree
You said you needed a conservative/republican/libertarian viewpoint on your show. I think you need a liberal viewpoint.
Immigration was a major issue during the Bush administration and the church focused on gay marriage. The church does not care about immigration. They may want to appear to care but talk is cheap. They care about gay marriage. They care about “religious liberty” – whatever that means.

Keep doing these weekly updates. I’m the only Ex-Mormon in my very TBM family. I like keeping update to what’s going on in their Church.

“We’re a country of human rights”, and “what we are so proud of, and what we are known for, is our record of human rights”.

The US has just resigned from the UN Human Rights Council Stephanie, a week or two ago.

Unrelated and yet related, the US would never sign the world treaty against genocide.

When I look at our history, I see our future, and it makes me sad. We have been entitled, hateful and aggressive, but Trump may go down in history as the most avaricious of us all, giving voice to the lowest common denominator across this land with words like “infested with illegals”. In truth we are infested with hate mongers, from within. They hatched from underneath slimy rocks.

Fourth of July is coming up. Time to celebrate, right?

If the LDD church wants to be convincing of their position on protecting families they should put as much effort and money into helping families at the border as they did supporting Prop 8.

Sorry John, I’ve got to call out your hypocrisy on this one. Here you are praising the church for being politically involved (because the church more-or-less agrees with your views on this one) and encouraging them to be even more involved. But when the church is active on issues like Prop 8, etc, (issues where your sentiments differ), you frequently call them out for interfering in the “politics of a sovereign state”, etc. Got any clarification for me?

Separating children from parents as a border security policy procedure is a political abomination. If it is a cynical attempt to crowbar refugees to waiver their legal rights to sanctuary, then it reflects abject cruelty and complete disregard for the 1995 Hinckley sponsored Proclamation to the World.
Words are meaningless when actions are contradictory.
Edmund Burke stated the following, ‘…when bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle…’!
Do Americans not recognize they are being led by a tyrant down a road paved with good intentions?
The world [excluding Russia and N. Korea] is waiting for you all to wake the @!#$ up?

I agree with Tim about the hypocrisy of some people when they call on the church to be politically active when the church aligns with their political views and for the church to stay out of politics when the church takes a political stand contrary to the people’s views.
I don’t agree with separating children and parents permantely but I can’t disagree with stepping up measures to discourage illegal immigration. The problem is that many potential illegal immigrants don’t take US laws seriously.
The human rights argument shouldn’t be made against the US. It should be made against Mexico. Mexico has tons of money. Why make Mexico’s political/economic problems OUR problems? Why are WE responsible for Mexico’s people? The economic burden of free education, protection from crime and free healthcare for uninsured people becomes your economic burden. Why do you think poor Mexicans come here? It’s safer here: law enforcement costs taxpayers. Education is free. Education costs taxpayers. Healthcare is better and cheaper. All you have to do is show up at a hospital pregnant, injured or sick and you cannot be turned away. That costs taxpayers. All the problems those poor people had in Mexico shift from Mexico to the US. That’s not ok and coming here for a better life where illegal immigrants demand so called rights (free education and healthcare are privileges, not rights) needs to be deincentivised.

As someone who witnessed the attacks of 9-11 with my own eyes, it is triggering for me to hear seemingly educated, intelligent people argue that anybody and everybody should be welcomed as immigrants to the US with opened arms. I know for a fact that some people come with ill intent. I am not opposed to immigration per se, but I believe it is a basic governmental responsibility to know who is coming in. Are they terrorists, drug dealers, white slavers or gang members? They should have visas, passports, etc. and come in through the front door. If they sneak in illegally, the are criminals by definition and should be treated accordingly.

No one on this podcast even believes in the Church. Why would they waste their breath talking about the hymnals???? And to pick out a hymn about Joseph Smith the prophet saying that we worship him. . . What about the hundreds of other hymns that praise Jesus and the atonement? I, personally have never felt or heard it preached anywhere close that we worship Joseph Smith. Because of his part in bringing forth the restoration, we revere him. That brings us to a place to enjoy a church that is the same as the church that Christ organized when he was on the earth.
