Due to overwhelming requests, I’ve made this into a podcast.

Over the past 2-3 years, LDS-themed blogs have literally erupted with activity. Today, there is an entire ecosystem of LDS bloggers, and literally hundreds of LDS blogs in the Internet. In this 2005 Sunstone Seattle presentation (to which I was invited to speak), I review the LDS Bloggernacle (past and present), and then discuss my vision for what might be possible in the future, including podcasts, wikis, screencasts, and multimedia content. I also discuss the importance of Sunstone and Dialogue reaching out to these communities.

  1. […] Well–if any of you happened to catch my Sunstone presentation, you’ll know that while I have great respect for the bloggernacle, I believe that it is underachieving in a few major ways.  I do love the posts, and the conversations–but I believe that we can do even greater things than we have done so far. 2. […] It’s been 5 months or so since I entered the bloggernacle with a huge thud. Since then, I’ve tried to be a bit more focused, and constructive in my comments and contributions to the bloggernacle, but I know I still have a long ways to go. […]

    Hi John,

I finally listened to this: great work!!! I find it somewhat misnamed, which is why I hadn’t listened to it yet. It should have been something like “changing the world with blogs and podcasts”, which is what you do. . .

I really liked the one comment you made, “What is the purpose of all this blogging?”

What I see is that tremendous energy is released on most (LDS) blogs, but it is primarily internal dialog, and most of it will never help anyone with anything. Kind of like masturbation.

John, where is the mini-film referenced in this podcast? I’d really like to see it. Thanks.
